Sigh.....Time, Energy, what to do, what to do

Postby countrymommy » Thu Jun 22, 2006 10:34 pm

Okay so I'm finally posting here. I have been putting this off because even though I really need to lose weight I haven't wanted to and really still don't want to do the work it takes but I am ready.

Background info...
I just had two girls (we all know what that does to our hips, bottoms and bodies in general) in two years. I started out at 170 (being 5'10 that's not bad) and now I'm well I really don't know for sure but I would be safe to say around 250

My major problems...

1. I love to cook. I'm talking homecooked yummy food. I have never liked fish or most green veggies and have tried them over and over again hoping I could at least handle eating them and still I gag when eating them.

2. I don't know when I could possibly exercise. I work full time and have two young girls (2 and 9mths) and my husband works shift work and drives 2 hours to get there. I wake up at 5:00am and usually don't get to bed until after 9 or 10. If I can find the time how do I have the energy and if I have the energy how do I keep my 2 year old from trying to join me on the treadmill?

I do have to lose weight. I absolutely HATE how I look and just yesterday when we were driving I looked in the side mirror and saw a yucky double chin thing happening. Uggh!

Okay so I would like to know from the many mommies that are in my same boat, what you have done to lose the weight.

Time, energy, What to do?

Hey there

I totally understand where you are coming from. I have three boys. Ages 16, 11 and 5. My husband now (over the past year) works straight nights because we thought it was best for the family. That allows him to be home every evening and every weekend. He did however work shifts for 15 years. And terrible shifts. No pattern. He would get a weekend off every 7 weeks or so.

Anyway, jsut a little background to let you know I do understand where you're coming from. I have my own business. Which allows me to work early in the a.m. and later in the evening. It is still very difficult. The younger two are up early and the oldest well, he doesn't want to go to bed. So I always seem to have someone around.

I've been a personal trainer/lifestyel coach for over ten years. And I have to admit I really don't like to exercise. But I have to do it. I went for about two years without when my last boy was born.

I tone, I repeat tone, now 4 times a week for 20 minutes. What you have to do is pick the best time for you. My time is first thing in the morning.

Then, I do not diet. I stop eating at mealtime as soon as I feel full and if I eat between meals or after dinner, I eat fruits & veggies only. When you start this, eat as much as you like. You will eventually eat less. But both those things are key to losing weight.

I started my weight loss this way 12 years ago and I have to tell you, it not only takes the weight off, but more importantly has kept the weight off.

Losing weight doesn't have to interrupt your entire lifestyle. You really don't have to cook special meals for your family and one for you. You really don't have to buy expensive, special foods, but what you need to do is take that time for yourself. I look at it this way, if I tone 4 times a week for 20 minutes. Thats a total of 1 hr 10 mins out of my 7 day week, that's about 168 hrs. Anyway, if I can't give myself 1 hr & 10 minutes, something is wrong.

Hope that helps!

Workout,

Thank you for your support and suggestions. I went to your web site and this was definitely a God thing. I have been looking for someone like you. If you have read some of my other post you will know that you help women in all of the areas I am experiencing now in my life for the first time (weight, marriage, PMS, children and just realizing myself now at 30). Could you email me and let me know more about your services?

God Bless,

Dena

Hi Dena

Just to let you know here. I did e-mail you, e-mail is wonderful, but you never know if the person gets it, so I just want to let you know that I did e-mail you. If you didn't get it, just e-mail me directly at Ryakattack@aol.com and we can touch base that way.
