Insulin Resistance Diet - works for me and lot of others

Postby WalkWithHim » Thu Dec 18, 2008 12:51 pm

Hi. I'm new (just got in today!).

I am not here to sell anything. I just want to let you know of a diet that has worked wonders for me, and lots of other people who have used it. The book is called The Insulin Resistance Diet. You can get it at Borders, Amazon, etc.

It is really easy, it works, and you do not have to give up your favorite foods.

I really recommend reading the book, but here is the basic plan. It is sooo easy.

1. For every 15 grams of carbohydrates you eat, eat 7 grams of protein.

2. Never eat more than 30 grams of carbohydrates in any 2 hour period.

3. Non-starchy vegetables (beans, greens, tomatoes, etc.) and some fruits, like apples, you do not have to count as carbs.

I have lost from a tight size 10 down to a loose size 8 since August, or about 10 - 12 pounds, mostly off my stomach. And it has been so easy.

If you all are interested, I will be glad to post more about it.

That diet sounds great. I'm so disgusted with myself and need something. I'm pretty sure I have an insulin resistance problem. I lost 80 pounjds about 10 years ago and I think I've put every pound back on. Right now, my daughter lives with me. she's 8 months pregnant and I keep eating everything she eats! I'm going to LOOK 8 months pregnant soon! I plan on really getting with it the first of the year. I'd appreciate any help and encouragement!

I recommend you get this book and start after the Holidays. It is easy to do, not drastic. You actually might end up eating more. It is more about what you eat with what and when.

But again, it is not hard to do.

Here is a typical day that is balanced and linked (linking protein with carbs in the right amounts)

Breakfast:

1 egg - 7 grams of protein
1 piece of toast - 11 grams of carb (find a bread with 11 grams per slice)
4 oz. orange juice - 15 grams of carbs
2 pieces of turkey bacon - 7 grams of protein

That is just one example. You can eat anything for breakfast as long as you do not go over 30 grams of carbs and have at least 15 grams of protein with that.

Snack around 10:00

1 string cheese
crackers (no more than 15 grams worth)
apple

Lunch around 12:00

Microwave lunch with 30 grams or less of carbs and at least 15 grams of protein ( the Lean Cuisine ones are good)

Or, make a sandwich with turkey, cheese and have a cup of vegetable soup.

Snack:

Apple and 2 tblsps peanut butter

or cheese and crackers, or a South Beach bar (pnut butter ones are good)

Dinner:

1 cup of spaghetti
1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce with meat, or several meatballs
salad

2 hours later you can have 30 more grams of carbs and 15 grams of protein

2 chocolate chip cookies
a glass of milk

Does that sound alike a diet you could do?

You can put together whatever you want, as long as you don't go over 30 grams of carbs in 2 hours and eat at least 15 grams of protein with it

Thank you for the info. Sounds pretty easy! I should have asked for the book for Christmas (LOL). Did you say you've already lost on this program?

Ordered the book and received today. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but plan to. Please pray for me that I can get motivated and get going!
